"Email Marketing 101: How to Set up Your Autoresponder to Sign Up Prospects into ANY MLM Program"

Email marketing is by far the most effective internet marketing method that you are likely to find ANYWHERE!

We've used email marketing to successfully build downlines in many programs, including SFI, Smart Mall, and MLM Dynamite.

What is email marketing? Quite simply, it's sending a series of letters out to interested prospects about your program or product. Notice that I said SERIES OF LETTERS.

Email marketing is NOT a one-shot advertisement, as are banner ads, ezine ads, and classifieds. With these other types of advertising, you have one shot to make the sale (or sponsor the affiliate).

If your prospect isn't interested when they see your ad, you don't get the sale. If they have other things on their mind, you don't get the sale. If they don't see your ad on a page of other ads, you don't get the sale.

Email marketing gives you MANY different shots at making a sale, or sponsoring a new member. If your prospect is distracted when they get your first letter, they may be very interested when they get your second letter - or your third - or your 4th!

In fact, we frequently have people join after getting 10 or more letters from us. It's just human nature that people seldom buy the first time they hear about something. They need to get the message over and over and over again.

One-shot ads don't do that. They are far less effective - and usually much more expensive as well - then prospecting to people who have expressed an interest in hearing more about your program.

That's why we use email marketing more than any other form of advertising. We've literally sponsored thousands of people into our downlines with this system.

Where do we get good prospects to use with our email marketing system? Our number 1 source is our own co-op advertising programs. We've set up a co-op for every program we seriously work:

TRAFFIC OASIS LEADS

PROJECT CASHFLOW LEADS

TURNKEY PC LEADS

SMART MALL LEADS

SFI LEADS

SMARTWAY LEADS

Email marketing is also very quick and easy to do IF you take the time to set it up properly.

Most of us would not want to send out thousands of letters one at a time to a long list of prospects - then 2 days later, send out one at a time ANOTHER letter to that same list of prospects. It would take us hours to do all that typing!

If you want to set up a system that will allow you to send out thousands of letters a month to as many prospects as you can get - then you need a followup autoresponder.

A followup autoresponder will allow you to input all your followup letters AND add your list of prospects any time you want. Then it will do ALL the work of sending out those letters on any schedule you set up. Set it up once, and it will take you just a few minutes a month to use.

There are many companies who sell followup autoresponders. Most will provide you with as many 50 different followup autoresponders and allow you to input up to 52 letters in each one! And most important, they allow you to import your list - no matter how many people you have in it.

For a complete list of recommended autoresponder companies, be sure to read my article: "Must-have followup tools for email marketing."

Being able to import names is a very important consideration. Most companies do NOT allow you to import a list into your followup series. On top of that, they only give you ONE followup autoresponder with just a 10-12 letter capacity for your monthly fee. As far as I'm concerned, these services aren't worth the cost. You can't import your leads into them. That means you'll have to spend more money placing ads to direct people to subscribe to your autoresponder. This makes your email marketing program a lot harder, and a lot more expensive.

Please note that there are companies that offer FREE followup autoresponders. You should always keep in mind that you get what you pay for. You won't be able to import your prospects into these autoresponders. And the company that gives you these responders will include their own ads at the top and bottom of every email you send out.

You DON'T want someone else's ads in your emails. Not only will you lose some of your prospects, but it makes you look cheap and unprofessional. And no one is going to believe you are making money online if you can't even spring a few bucks a month for an autoresponder!

Most autoresponders are very easy to setup. The procedure we'll go through below applies to about 95% of all autoresponders you'll find today. Even if your autoresponder service is a little bit different this procedure will be very similar. Be sure to also use your service's help menu if you have any problems.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR AUTORESPONDER FOR UNLIMITED EMAIL MARKETING

Once you've signed up for an autoresponder service, you'll get an email directing you to a site to sign up for every autoresponder you want.

STEP #1: Sign up for an autoresponder.

You'll need to name your autoresponder first. Remember, this name is just like an email address. For instance, if you name your autoresponder "freereport", it's email address will be "freereport@aweber.com," for instance. If you were to send an email to that address, your autoresponder would add you to the list and send you the series of followup letters.

If you are placing ads, in additional to doing email marketing, you can use your autoresponder address AND your affiliate URL in the ad. Those who send an email to your autoresponder will get your series of followup letters.

When you sign up for your autoresponder, be sure to choose a Plain Text autoresponder. If you choose "HTML", you'll have to know how to format all your followup letters with HTML formatting. This is an awful lot of work for the results you'll get. Plus, many ISP spam-blockers are more apt to block html emails than plain text.

You'll also choose a password for your autoresponder. Be sure to keep this information in a safe place. You'll need your password to use your autoresponder.

You will also be asked for your email address. This email address will be used as a Reply-to address. In other words, if someone gets one of your emails and has a question, they may hit "REPLY" from their own email program. Their email to you will go to the email address you choose.

If you have a lot of email addresses, be sure to use one that you monitor frequently. Anyone who emails you with questions is a VERY HOT PROSPECT!

Once you've signed up for your autoresponder (or autoresponders), you'll receive an email with information for logging in. When you log in, you'll get a "Client Menu" with all the options you need to setup and use your autoresponder.

STEP #2: Input your followup letters.

From the Client Menu, select "Online Message Manager." You will now come to a page that has boxes for you to input up to 52 followup messages.

You can find a series of sample followup messages on all our member support sites. Use them to help you write your own followup letters. Your letters will be MUCH MORE effective if you add your own words and contact information to each email.

These are the very same followup messages that we have used to sponsor thousands of new members into our own downlines. You will need to add your own affiliate URL to these letters.

The easiest way to get these letters into your autoresponder is to first copy all of them into a text file. Just go to the URL above and use your mouse to select all 7 of the letters. Then select "COPY" from your Edit pulldown menu, or hit Control-C on your keyboard.

Now open up a text editor, such as Notedpad. Select "Paste" from the Edit pulldown menu, or hit Control-V on your keyboard. That will copy all the letters. Now use the "Save" command in the File pulldown menu to save this file. Give it a name and put it in a directory where you'll easily find it again.

Once you've saved your file, go through all the letters and add your own affiliate URL in the indicated places. Save the file again.

Now go back to your autoresponder Online Message Manager that you have already opened. Scroll down to the box for inputting your first message. Use your mouse and the "COPY" command to select the subject line of Message #1 from your text file. Go back to your autoresponder and paste it into the Subject box for message number 1.

Then go back to your text file and select and copy the entire message. Go back into your autoresponder and use the "PASTE" command to paste it into the message box.

Follow this same procedure for all your followup messages.

This first message will immediately be emailed to anyone you import into your autoresponder series. For the remainder of the messages, you will set the schedule.

You will note the following line starting with Message #2: "Send this message ___ days from last message." We generally use a 2-4 day time span between our followup messages. If you choose 2 days, for example, the 2nd followup letter will go out to your prospect 2 days AFTER they received the first letter. Message #3 will go out 2 days AFTER they receive Message #2, and so on.

Once you have all 7 of your letters input, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Update Messages" button. Now your messages are saved and will automatically go out to anyone you add to your autoresponder.

But how would you like to make your email marketing even more effective?

One easy way to do that is to send out the whole followup series more than once. After all, you get a total of 52 messages for your autoresponder. You don't have to stop at 7 messages.

It is very likely that some of your prospects won't respond to the first series. Perhaps they are on vacation, and have so much email when they return that they just delete most of it. Or, maybe they are working another program they are concentrating on. Or any of a dozen other reasons.

But that doesn't mean they won't be interested in your program at a later date. You will find that you continue to get signups from every series that you send out to your prospects. And that means that the actual cost of your signups will be a lot less!

We generally place a 30-day time period between the last message of the first series. Then we send the very same series to them again. Then we put ANOTHER 30-day time period after this second set of letters, and input it again! Since you have a capability of sending 52 messages, you can repeat the series as many times as you have empty messages!

STEP #3: Import your leads into your autoresponder.

You can get good prospect leads from a number of sources. The one we recommend that you use is our own co-op advertising programs. These are VERY HOT prospects who have asked for more information specifically about your program.

Another benefit of our co-op is that we send your prospect leads to you in exactly the format that is required by most autoresponders for import.

Here is how to import these leads into your autoresponder:

1-Go to your autoresponder Client Menu and select "Import List."

2-At the top of the page, check "Add to Followup Sequence" and "Start on Message 1."

3-If you got your leads from our co-op, you will receive them by email in exactly the format needed to input them into your autoresponder. So all you have to do is use your mouse to select your leads, then use the "COPY" command. Now Paste them into the box provided in Rapid Reply.

4-Click the "Import List" button at the bottom of the box.

If you get your leads from another source, such as Leaders Club, you will need to first reformat them. Most autoresponders require them to be in a comma-delimited file in the following sequence:

firstname,lastname,email
firstname,lastname,email
firstname,lastname,email
etc.

Congratulations! You now have your followup autoresponder set up and ready to work for you. Now that it's set up, it will only take you a few minutes to use it every time you buy new leads. Then, your autoresponder will crank out message after message after message to your prospects.

If you add prospects on a regular basis every month, your downline is going to just keep growing - AND putting more and more money into your pocket.

This is the most effective marketing system you could possibly set up for yourself, no matter what you are promoting!
