Now please don't misunderstand me - I'm not giving you reasons not to use Safelists. I'm just telling you how they work so you won't have unrealistic expectations. And so you will realize that you'll have to do a little bit of work to make them work for you.

Even if every one of those millions of people doesn't read every email they receive, they will notice some of them. You only need a few people to read your email ad and respond to make Safelists a very worthwhile means of advertising.

HOW TO EFFECTIVELY MARKET WITH SAFELISTS

Now that you understand what some of the drawbacks are, let's talk about how to effectively use Safelists.

1. MAKE SURE YOU GET A SPECIAL EMAIL ACCOUNT THAT YOU ONLY USE FOR SAFELISTS.

Remember, your membership is based on the fact that you have an email address that other people on the Safelist can email to. If you don't, the Safelist won't allow you to send out your own ads.

But you don't want to use your regular email address, since you're definitely going to get hundreds, even thousands, of emails a day. You'll get so much email that you won't be able to find your important email, such as notifications from the program you are working or questions from the people you sponsor.

Get yourself a separate email address that you don't use for anything else. A free account at Yahoo or Hotmail makes perfect sense. But make sure you empty the email from your account every day. Yahoo and Hotmail do have limits to the amount of email you can get. If you exceed your limit, your Safelist is not going to let you do any more emailing. So make it a part of your daily routine to empty your email account, and then do your Safelist emailings.

2. EMAIL YOUR ADS EVERY SINGLE DAY WITHOUT FAIL.

Yes, you can email millions of people with Safelists. But if you only send out an email ad once or twice a month, you aren't going to get much response. To make Safelists work, you have to email to them EVERY DAY!

Remember, most people who belong to Safelists DON'T read much of the email that they get. The more emails you send, the more apt you are to have some of them read. On top of that, if you test many different subject lines during the month, different people may be attracted to at least one of your ads.

3. JOIN AS MANY SAFELISTS AS YOU CAN.

Again, to really make Safelists work, you need to do as much mailing as you possibly can. The more Safelists you belong to, the higher the total number of people you are emailing. And the more apt you'll be to get some response to your ads.

Since most Safelists offer a lifetime membership for one price, it makes sense to join more every month. Start with one, get used to using it every day. Start testing your ads and subject lines and see what works. Once you have that in your routine, join another list. Add that to your daily routine. Then keep joining more.

To write this kind of ad, just go to the website you want to advertise in your ad. Make a list of the main benefits that site lists in order to get affiliates, make sales, or whatever its function is.

Now write a short ad that simply points out those benefits, and then directs your prospect to your web site for the full story.

5. CONSTANTLY TEST AND CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINES OF YOUR EMAIL ADS.

This is one of the MOST IMPORTANT things you can do to improve the effectiveness of your Safelist promotions.

Your subject line is the #1 element that will get your email opened. Remember, as I've been reminding you, your prospect is getting hundreds of advertising emails a day. Yours MUST stand out if you expect them to read your ad. If it doesn't, they'll never see your email, so it won't matter how great your ad is. If your subject line doesn't get your email opened, your whole ad failed!

Don't just use the same old subject line all the time. Nor should you use a subject line that a lot of other people in your program are using.

Remember, hundreds of other people are using those same subject lines. Your prospect may have already seen them many times. Subject lines can get old very fast.

I suggest that you write MANY different subject lines and keep testing them for effectiveness. Put BENEFITS in your subject lines.

For example, from your list of subject lines, send out your ad on Day #1 with Subject Line #1. Generally, any response you get to Safelist ads is within 24 hours. If you don't get it then, you won't get it at all. That's because most Safelist users have to clean out their email boxes daily to insure they don't fill up.

So, if you don't get any signups - or sales, or whatever the goal of your ad - within 24 hours, you won't get any from that particular ad.

So on Day #2, use Subject Line #2. Now over the next 24 hours, check to see if you got any signups or sales. If you don't, then change to Subject Line #3 the next day, and so on.

Even if you get response to some of your subject lines, you still may want to test others. You may have one that will get you a LOT of response. In that case, use that subject line until your response rate falls off. Then go back to testing and using another subject line.

To be effective at Safelist Marketing, you should constantly be writing and testing subject lines.

Again, a good subject line is what actually gets your email opened. Remember, your prospects are getting over a hundred emails a day. Your subject line MUST JUMP OUT AT THEM if you want to get your email opened.

It doesn't matter HOW GREAT your letter is if your prospect doesn't open it. The subject line is like a great headline in an ad.

Now please don't email me back and ask me to give you some more subject lines. :-) Remember, I have thousands of people in my downlines. If everyone is using the same ones, they quickly lose their effectiveness.

So how do you write great subject lines?

Here is what I do: Every day when I am going through and cleaning out my Safelist email box, I pay attention to which subject lines "jump out and grab me." I save those subject lines in a notebook file and use them to write some of my own.

I don't mean copy them word for word, since they are very likely for a totally different program. Rewrite them so they work with what you are promoting. Or use them to get your own ideas.

If you do this every day, you'll have many good subject lines to test with your own ads!
